Driving a train is a responsible and a fulfilling experience, that you attain after a easy but regulated training regime. Then there is the ultimate and challenging opportunity to train and be a Diesel and Steam loco driver which requires a different set of skills. Talk to one of our drivers anytime you are at the Railway, they love the challenge!

All signalling used at the Don River Railway incorporates old and modern style signalling systems controlled by Signal Boxes located at strategic positions around the railway. Training to become a guard is a great benefit to the railway, and is the stepping stone to becoming a diesel driver and signalman - all of which are very rewarding. Controlling the passage is a vital and responsible task to keep the railway running. And then there is the behind the scenes work of wiring, laying cables, fault fixing and many other activities.

Station and the Public

We need people to help operate and man the station. This is a great introduction to our railway where you meet all your fellow members as well as greet and assist the general public boarding and alighting from our trains. It is the place to liaise with the public, and where we seek to present our organisation in the best light.
